Jesus told Peter that satan desired to sift him as wheat but He prayed for him that when he was converted to strengthen his brothers. Jesus could have very well offset the plan of hell against Peter but instead He prayed him through it. There are some things you may have asked the Lord to protect you FROM and instead He protected you THROUGH because who you are AFTER the sifting is GREATER in character, might, and deed and you will never develop MUSCLE that you don’t use.
God is not going to deliver you from something you still LIKE doing. You have to express to Him a desire to change and a heart that is repentant. Some people have gotten so used to their problems that they have counted them as a natural part of their life. They have actually partnered with the enemy and came into agreement with his plans for their life. But today, there needs to be something churning and wrestling in you for change. There needs to a sound of desperation coming out of you that alerts the Lord that you are ready to be delivered and that you are sick and tired of being sick and tired and that you WANT WHAT HE HAS PROMISED TO YOU; ABUNDANT LIFE.
Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, we should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it. -Numbers 13:30 You cannot fulfill the promises of God in your life by following the crowds. People today are taking the easy way out and are settling for second best because they don’t want to put forth the effort to obtain their promises, but God has called you to something greater. Stand up like the Caleb that you are and go against the odds. Nothing is impossible with him who believes. If God said it, He will honor His word and bring it to pass. You may be in the minority today as you embark upon your assignment now but know that you and God are a majority.
Though we are slaves, our God has not deserted us in our bondage. He has shown us kindness in the sight of the kings of Persia: He has granted us new life to rebuild the house of our God and repair its ruins, and he has given us a wall of protection in Judah and Jerusalem. -Ezra 9:9 (NIV) The Lord is saying that even though My people have gone into captivity because of their sins, I have not utterly forsaken them. I will yet show you kindness and extend My mercy in the very face of your captors. I will permit you to build up your relationship with Me which has been torn down and laid desolate. And I shall protect you in the Place of Praise and in the Place of Peace.
God wants you in the spiritual place where He can test you, develop you and bless you. Your place will differ from others because He knows what you can bear. In this place, He will disciple you, train you, and equip you. Jacob’s place was in Laban’s house. Moses’ place was Pharaoh’s house. Ruth’s place was Naomi’s house. David’s place was Saul’s house. We each have our place where God meets us with His training manual and begins the process. Though you may feel death on pain, when He releases you from your place, you will emerge stronger, victorious, triumphant, confident in faith, and wiser.
When you have paid a high price for what you have, you are very sensitive about who handles it. This is why there is a such a high percentage of Kingdom believers now who are fed up with stupidity because they have paid a handsome price for where they are in God and are refusing to settle for second best. They have walked away from the closest of friends, relocated, and have even distanced themselves from family because they paid too much for their oil to be wasted on nonsense. You can tell who borrowed their stuff from YouTube because they allow anything and everything to enter their sphere. But when YOU have sacrificed, crucified, denied, resisted, spurned, turned, prayed and fasted to be in a certain place in God, you have every right to tell a person, NO, YOU CAN’T FIT IN WHERE YOU WANT TO GET IN. Folk might get mad with you and call you FUNNY, but that’s alright, God is calling you a new name too. He calls you, PECULIAR.
Put on the helmet of salvation for your adversary wants to penetrate your mind. If he can entice you to believe his lies, he will ultimately shut down your ability to envision. Protect your mind from mental assault because what you think about yourself is what you are certain to become. Fasten your helmet. Do not allow verbal insults to form a mental imprint. If you are consistently listening to the voices of those calling you names and persecuting you, at some point you will lose faith in who God said you are and believe their lies. Secure your helmet. Guard your mind because some people’s thoughts about you simply does not matter. Protect yourself from damaging and hurtful words and maintain the peace (not piece) of mind that God gave you. The mind is a terrible thing to waste so keep it guarded.
My husband treated me to dinner last night in honor of my birthday. As we sat at our table eating and talking I saw something in my peripheral vision moving. He and I both looked up at the same time to notice a black waterbug crawling on the INSIDE of the window near my seat. Needless to say, I was ready to jump and run, turning the table over in the process if need be! My husband said, don’t move, be still. With a look of panic in my eyes, I did what he said. Sure enough the bug crawled back away from me. Yes, I lost my appetite but there was a lesson to be learned. The enemy of our salvation does not want us to enjoy times of peace and bonding. Therefore he waits in the shadows to see when and where he can make his grand appearance to disturb our lives. In this case, while a man and his wife enjoy each other’s company, the enemy strikes to cause panic, disturbance, and loss of intimacy. But like my husband said, we must learn to be unmovable during those times. My reaction was to run, jump, scream, disturb the peace, tell the manager and never frequent that establishment again, but the Lord takes the foolish things of this world to confound the wise. I learned a valuable lesson, if we would learn to stand still and not panic when situations arise, most times the enemy will retreat because he has no fear to feed upon. Stand your ground and don’t let your adversary move you from your place. Rest confidently in the Lord knowing that He will sustain you and protect you. And above all, enjoy the ordained seasons of peace; he will lead you beside still waters.
The heat of your trials does not come to just expose the element of a thing, but to also reveal the very core of your character. When the heat rises in a situation, God is allowing what’s been lurking in the depth of your heart to rise to surface. As with a seething pot, all filth rises. As you are tested in the faith, the scum in your life is being revealed because a cleansing is taking place to prepare you for elevation. Pay attention to what you are going through and learn well about who you are because you are being purged and purified; the prerequisites for promotion.
I feel as if we have grossly under-considered what a reprobate mind is. The word of God makes it clear that there are certain behaviors that if we willingly continue to engage in, opens doors to our being evicted from the presence of God. God is love but He is also a God of wrath and there are limitations to how far the Lord will allow you to go beyond the correction we have received. We each have been given a measure of faith (Rom. 12:3) and a measure of grace (Eph. 4:7). Only God knows what that measurement entails and how far that measurement will take us. The last thing any of us want to do is venture beyond our measure of grace. It doesn’t matter who you are, there are certain behaviors which need to be modified and crucified before they render us enemies of Christ. I don’t think that we understand how important this is. God is not going to keep playing with us and winking at our stuff. We are going to have to come up and out of our mess. We need to get it together and KEEP it together. Romans 1:28-32, “Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done. Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip. They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents. They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy. They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.” (NLT)
